Tompkins Excavating Honored by Habitat for Humanity at Cornerstone Award Dinner

Stacey Tompkins, President and Owner of Tompkins Excavating of Shrub Oak, NY, recently accepted an award at the 4th Annual Cornerstone Award Dinner for the full-service excavation company’s work with Habitat for Humanity of Putnam County.

Tompkins Excavating has worked with Habitat for Humanity in the past and most recently contributed their time and resources at the 87 Johnson Street site in Lake Peekskill, NY, a project that has been in progress since 2013. During that time, Tompkins Excavating provided services for the demolition of a concrete garage structure with a patio roof, removed all foundation and slab backfilled and restored it to its original grade, regraded the driveway area, spread base material, and removed old sidewalk and tree stumps. John Watson, Board Vice President of Habitat for Humanity of Putnam County, presented Tompkins with this year’s award.

“The support of Tompkins Excavating on this project has played a vital role in working toward the completion of another successful site. The work they put in has been greatly appreciated and we at Habitat for Humanity of Putnam County were happy to honor Stacey Tompkins for that,” said Watson.

Besides her recent efforts on behalf of Habitat for Humanity of Putnam County, Stacey is a former PTA President in Putnam Valley, as well as a member of the Citizen Advisory Board for the Putnam Valley Central School District and a Parent Representative for the Putnam Valley HS Building Steering Committee. Tompkins has offered support to charities including Caring for the Homeless of Peekskill, Inc., Jan Peek House Shelter for the Homeless, Community Cares of Mahopac, Antonia Arts Studio, and Support Connection.

“I’m so glad we were able to contribute to the construction of this site,”Tompkins said. “It’s so important to us to involve ourselves in projects that make a difference and it means a great deal that Habitat for Humanity of Putnam County has honored us in this way.”

The buffet dinner was held at the Green Chimney Clearpool in Carmel, NY. Mark Franzoso of Franzoso Contracting was also honored for their work on the Lake Peekskill project. The event was complete with a silent auction and raffles to support Habitat for Humanity, and music was provided by the Crimson Keys.

Habitat for Humanity Putnam County is a volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to making affordable and decent housing a matter of conscience and community action. People of all faiths and backgrounds unite to work towards the empowerment of families and development of communities through the construction of quality homes that meet a serious human need.
