'Train The Trainer' in Shrub Oak Raises $3,200 for U.S. Army Sergeant

A U.S. Army Sergeant, who served in Afghanistan and whose recovery has improved greatly since he started bicycling, will now be able to purchase his own bicycle.

His wish will be granted through the efforts of community members and Pure Physique's personal trainers who raised money for post-9/11 service members through the third annual 'Train the Trainer' fundraiser in Shrub Oak.

The fundraising event on Nov. 16 – where the roles were reversed and clients got to 'train' their trainers –  brought in $3,200 toward personal trainer and business owner Michael Lipowski's goal of $3,500.

The money raised goes toward Hope For The Warriors®, a national non-profit organization that assists post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty.

"We have the opportunity to say thank you and provide for a wounded veteran and his/her family to help them get back to a sense of normalcy," said Beth Colucci, a trainer at Pure Physique and Train The Trainer's event manager.

Each year, Hope For The Warriors® provides Pure Physique with a “wish” from their A Warrior’s Wish® program. This year's wish was dedicated to raising the money necessary for the purchase of the US Army Sergeant's own bicycle.

Donations are being accepted until Tuesday, Nov. 26 either online (click here), in the form of checks made out to Hope For The Warriors®, or cash.
