'Train The Trainer' in Shrub Oak to Raise Money for Wounded Vets

For the third year in a row, personal trainer and business owner Michael Lipowski is raising money for wounded soldiers on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Pure Physique, a personal training studio in Shrub Oak. 

Highlights of the annual 'Train the Trainer' fundraiser include attendees bidding a dollar amount ($1 or more) for each repetition a trainer is able to perform for a given exercise. They can also challenge a trainer to a push contest for $1 per repetition. In addition, money will be raised through raffle tickets.

The money raised will go toward Hope For The Warriors®, a national non-profit organization that assists post-9/11 service members, their families, and families of the fallen who have sustained physical and psychological wounds in the line of duty.

Train The Trainer will take place on Saturday, Nov. 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fundraiser is open to the public and free to attend.  

"[Train The Trainer] is not only a huge success, but very entertaining as our members [get] the opportunity to play the role of personal trainer and do to us what we’re usually doing to them," Lipowski said.

In 2011 Train The Trainer raised $2,900 for a Sergeant First Class who was wounded in Iraq. The money was to go toward a treadmill system, which his physical therapy team had recommended.

In 2012, Train The Trainer raised close to $3,500 for a USMC Sergeant and USMC Lance Corporal. One wish is for a kayak and the other one for a icycle and cycling equipment. 

"The energy and excitement of everyone last year was incredibly inspiring," said Beth Colucci, of of Pure Physique's trainers and Train The Trainer’s event manager. "We are so excited for this year’s event, and look forward to providing hope and relief to our much-deserving veterans."
