Turjanski-Villard Exhibits sculptures @ American Fine Craft Show
Turjanski-Villard to exhibit her sculptures in the Beaux-Arts Court @ the Brooklyn Museum Nov. 18-19 with 89 other artists & artisans
Sculptor Lila Turjanski-Villard, Yorktown Heights, joins 89 other artists and artisans at the fifth American Fine Craft Show Brooklyn at the Brooklyn Museum, November 18-19.
On her website Turjanski-Villard writes of her mixed media sculptures: "My sculpture and my dance have been two passions in my life since I was a kid. The memories of that dance are stamped in my pieces. The themes of movement, space and communication are constantly present in my artwork. I like to explore the suggestions of bodies in communication, in movement and in rhythm with space.
"I enjoy working with a technique that I have developed over time and in which I use different materials including paper. It is a good vehicle I have found to express my themes. The completion of the piece is in the interpretation of the viewer once it becomes independent of my creative process."

The sculptures "have layers of different materials including a metal armature and paper and are painted and coated with a protective sealer."
Born in Argentina, Turjanski-Villard studied clay sculpture in private studios for more than ten years. Once living in the US, she took classes in contemporary sculpture at the Westchester Art Workshop that motivated her exploration of new materials. In 2005, she started to experiment with paper – mixed media sculpture to continue her creative journey. Currently, her work is exhibited at art galleries and juried art shows.
