Westchester Medical Center Shooting: Delucias' Services Set

A note left by Richard DeLucia said he was distraught over his wife's medical issues.

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, NY — Services have been set for the Yorktown Heights couple who died in a shooting at Westchester Medical Center Aug. 8. Visitation will be held for Ann DeLucia and Richard DeLucia from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16 at Pleasant Manor Funeral Home, 575 Columbus Ave. in Thornwood.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 17 at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 2 Broadway in Valhalla.

Burial will follow at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale.

The DeLucias are survived by a son, Richard.

Richard DeLucia, 71, brought a revolver into Ann DeLucia’s fourth floor hospital room the morning of Aug. 8 at Westchester Medical Center and shot her once while she was lying in bed.

He then turned the gun onto himself, police said.

They were found by hospital personnel who tried to render care, but the couple died of their wounds.

County police detectives found a note later that day at their home in which Richard DeLucia wrote that he was distraught over his wife’s medical issues and wanted to end her suffering.
