Wind Gusts Up To 50 MPH Possible In Hudson Valley

A period of heavy rain is in the forecast for part of the region.

You'll want to tie things down outside and hold onto your hats because it's going to be windy Sunday. The National Weather Service has issued wind advisories for parts of the Hudson Valley.

For Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties, an advisory is in effect from 4 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday. The forecast calls for 20 to 25 mph winds with 50 mph gusts.

For Columbia, Dutchess and Ulster counties, an advisory is in effect from 4 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. The forecast said to expect 15 to 25 mph winds with 50 mph gusts.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down, with a few power outages resulting.

Additionally, for Columbia, Dutchess and Ulster counties, a cold front will bring some heavy showers or a brief period of heavy rain and gusty winds, as well as a slight chance of thunderstorms from the eastern Mohawk Valley and Capital Region south, meteorologists said.
