Yorktown Heights Man Struck, Killed In Hit-And-Run

Police said the incident happened on Route 6 between Sunnyside and Barger streets.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Yorktown Heights man was killed after being struck by a car on Route 6.

The Yorktown Police Department said, around 7 p.m. Wednesday, they received reports of a person lying in the roadway on Route 6.

Officers sent to the scene found that Demetrios Doupis, 40, of Yorktown Heights, was hit by a car that was traveling east on Route 6 between Sunnyside and Barger streets. Doupis was declared dead.

Police said the car left the scene.

The investigation into the crash is being conducted by the Yorktown Police Department Accident Investigation Unit, with the assistance of the Westchester County Department of Public Safety Accident Investigation Unit.
