Yorktown Man Accused Of Calling In Fake Overdose, Having Drugs

Police said the man was charged with two misdemeanors.

YORKTOWN, NY — A Yorktown man was accused of having illegal drugs after he called in a false medical emergency.

The Yorktown Police Department said, around 9:30 p.m. June 25, officers responded to a reported overdose at a Yorktown address.

An investigation found that there was no overdose or any type of medical emergency at the residence, police said.

Law enforcement said they found that Robert Williams, 40, of Yorktown, falsely reported the overdose and was also in possession of a controlled substance.

He was arrested June 30 and charged with third-degree falsely reporting an incident and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanors.

Following processing, Williams was issued an appearance ticket and released on his own recognizance.

He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court July 20.
