Yorktown Man Accused Of Leaving Fatal Accident Scene

Police said the man was identified through the car's license plate.

YORKTOWN, NY — Police accused a Yorktown man in a fatal hit-and-run that occurred Wednesday.

The Yorktown Police Department said Marcos Suscal, 45, of Yorktown, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, a felony.

On Wednesday, Demetrio Doupis, 40, of Yorktown Heights, was struck and killed by a car traveling east on Route 6 between Sunnyside and Barger streets. Police said the car left the scene.

The investigation identified Suscal as a suspect through the license plate for the car, police said.

At 3 p.m. Thursday, investigators went to his residence. They said the car was there and was seized as evidence.

Suscal was contacted and went to police headquarters for an interview.

He was arrested and processed.

After being arraigned, Suscal was released on his own recognizance and is due back in Yorktown Justice Court March 16.
