Christmas In Davidson 2019: Carriage Rides, Victorian Carolers

Christmas in Davidson will soon return to Main Street to kick off the holiday season, and will include live music, dressed up dogs and more.

DAVIDSON, NC — The holiday season is fast approaching, which means it won’t be long before its time for Christmas in Davidson.

This year, the town is hosting its annual three-night signature Christmas festival from Dec. 5 through Dec. 7. Festivities will run each evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Santa Claus will arrive in a horse drawn carriage at 6:29 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Davidson College Presbyteian Church Congregation House. If you miss his big entrance, don't worry. He'll be on hand to visit with children each night at the Congregation House located at 218 Concord Road. Visiting hours with Santa may be found here.

Carriage Rides
Horse-drawn carriage rides will be offered at $10 per person and will depart regularly from Davidson Town Hall. Payment for carriage ride tickets may be done in advance online to expedite the process, and tickets go on sale Nov. 22.

Trolley Shuttle
A free trolley service will run continually between downtown, South Main, satellite parking areas, and some neighborhoods. Maps of trolley routes may be found here.

Trolleys will run from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. each evening operating on a 30-minute loop. Trolley Shuttle stops will be marked with a sign

Street Closures
Main Street will close each evening at 5 p.m., from Concord Road to Jackson Street. Lorimer Road from Concord Road to the CVS parking lot will also be closed. Handicapped parking spaces will be available in the library parking lot along Lorimer Road, and an attendant will be present to allow drivers in.

Doggie Fashion Show
The Doggie Fashion Show is on Friday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. on the Davidson Public Library stage. Think your pooch has what it takes? Register your dog here.

The Ugly Holiday Sweater Contest is on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. on the Davidson Public Library stage. No registration is required – simply show up in your festive sweater! Winner walks away with $100 prize a trophy, and bragging rights that will last a lifetime.
