Poet, Author Clint Smith To Speak At Online Davidson Event
"How The Word Is Passed" author Clint Smith will discuss his book chronicling the legacy of slavery in the U.S. Here's how to watch.
DAVIDSON, NC — Clint Smith, poet, staff writer for The Atlantic and Davidson College alum, will speak at an online event for the Davidson College community and general public Monday, June 14.
Smith, who graduated from Davidson in 2010, is set to discuss his book, "How The Word Is Passed: A Reckoning with the History of Slavery Across America" in a chat with Davidson College President Carol Quillen via Zoom. The event is set to begin at 8 p.m.
Says Main Street Books, which is cohosting the event:
"A deeply researched and transporting exploration of the legacy of slavery and its imprint on centuries of American history, How the Word Is Passed illustrates how some of our country’s most essential stories are hidden in plain view—whether in places we might drive by on our way to work, holidays such as Juneteenth, or entire neighborhoods like downtown Manhattan, where the brutal history of the trade in enslaved men, women, and children has been deeply imprinted.
