Police Nab Drivers For Speeding, Expired Tags In Davidson

DPD arrested a 67-year-old woman for simple assault this week. Here's a rundown of crimes and citations reported in Davidson.

DAVIDSON, NC — Davidson police issued more than two dozen tickets this past week, the bulk of which were for speeding and expired vehicle tags, according to the most recent police blotter.

Davidson Police made one arrest last week. Louisa Digrazia Newkirk, 67, was arrested Jan. 12 on River Crossing Boulevard and charged with simple assault.

Here are the crimes reported to DPD between Jan. 12 through Jan. 18, 2021:

  • Jan. 12 — Simple assault, River Crossing Boulevard
  • Jan. 14 — Larceny (misdemeanor), Peninsula Drive

DPD officers issued the following citations between Jan. 12 through Jan. 18, 2021:

  • Expired tag — 8
  • Expired inspection — 4
  • Improper passing — 1
  • Speeding — 10
  • No operator's license — 1
  • Failure to register vehicle — 1
  • Stop sign violation — 3
