Reader-Nominated Businesses Of The Year: Davidson's Best

DAVIDSON, NC — It's been a tough year for Davidson businesses, as well as others around the state and country. The coronavirus pandemic presented enormous challenges for most, from the stay-home orders in the spring to restrictions and other hurdles from fall into winter.

To recognize all their efforts, Patch asked readers to nominate Local Businesses of the Year, whether it was the restaurant that made special accommodations for takeout, the shop that opened early, the pizzeria that went out of its way to deliver, the hardware store owner that offered invaluable advice or something else.

These nominations are not an official award, but simply recognition of a job well done.

• Whit's Frozen Custard: amazing custard, top notch customer service
• Summit Coffee: They kept on trudging on amongst the struggle when many cafes are closing their doors. They are even considering more expansions and location. They finagled a drive through when things were their worst. Love the place.
• The Ice House:
  • Pivoted in countless ways to help home schoolers, families that would rather eat at home, offering healthy and diverse prepared take out, etc.
  • Great Healthy Food quickly, NOT your standard fair and a wonderful creative/passionate chef who has been committed to serving her community and keeping her staff employed during this crisis.
  • Owner Jen adapted to comply with Covid restrictions, to still feed the community with wholesome, nutritious deliciousness, cared for her staff & rode the wave - the Icehouse deserves support, love & recognition.
  • Very clever and tasty response to indoor dining restrictions. Try their frozen soups to go,
• Davidson Family Medicine: Our hometown medical heroes. They’ve been on the front lines, providing car / sidewalk visits, testing and treating our town citizens. They do it with such professionalism and a smile! So glad our family switched from the big hospital systems.
• Main Street Books: As a business on Main Street Davidson, they have been focused on serving and uplifting the community throughout the pandemic. They covered their Windows in hearts when they couldn’t be open to show their love for the town and have done all they can to keep everyone in the books they love to read. Also, they provide programming for children and adults on a regular basis.
• Davidson Wine Company: Friendly, yet elegant and intimate wine bar with outdoor patio seating. Great selection of wines and menu items served by a friendly staff overseen by owner Lindsey Williams.
• Honeysuckle Home: Creative with Facebook Live so we could shop from the comfort of home.
• Davidson Clinic: The Davidson Clinic is the Most Professional group of Medical Angels of Mercy giving adequate care to all of its patient with Dignity, Professionalism, Humbleness, Compassion, and Respect!
