Police Identify 3 Shot Dead In Huntersville Home

HPD responded to a shooting inside a Vermillion home early Friday and found three people dead.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Three people are dead after an early morning shooting in Huntersville’s Vermillion community, police confirmed Friday morning.

Police have identified the deceased as Joseph Cooper, 44; Julie Cooper, 41; and Joseph Cooper, Jr., 24.

A Huntersville Police Department spokesperson said officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at the home in the 12000 block of East Draper Driver shortly before 6 a.m.

“Huntersville Police Officers, along with the North Mecklenburg SWAT Team, Medic and Huntersville Fire Department, responded to the scene,” HPD said in a statement late Friday. “After entry was made into the home, 3 individuals were located and pronounced deceased.”

“There is no threat to the community,” HPD said. Police are not searching for a suspect and say the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
