Carolina Renaissance Festival To Return For 2021: Details

Carolina Renaissance Festival will soon hold open auditions for performers and entertainers. Here's how to apply.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Royal jousting, medieval frivolity and fragrant smoked turkey legs are all set to return to the Charlotte metro this fall. The Carolina Renaissance Festival will run during the weekends of Oct. 2 through Nov. 21, 2021.

The forthcoming festivities mean festival organizers will soon kick off local auditions for performers ages 13 and older.

"The Festival is calling for actors, entertainers, musicians, performers, and colorful personalities of all types to inhabit the Festival’s make-believe Village of Fairhaven. Amateur and professional opportunities are available," organizers said.

Auditions will be held Saturday, June 12 and Saturday, June 19 from 9 a.m. until noon at the Cannon School, located at 5801 Poplar Test Road in Concord.

News of the upcoming annual eight-week event is a welcome one for festival lovers after the 2020 event was canceled due to the pandemic.

The festival, which typically begins in October, is one of the largest outdoor Renaissance-themed festivals in the country, and includes circus acts, games, rides, jousting knights, falconry and more. The festival grounds are located at 16445 Poplar Tent Road in Huntersville.

“We will continue to monitor announcements by health officials and will be prepared to implement safety guidelines that may be required in the fall," Matt Siegel, Director of Marketing and Entertainment, said in a statement.
