HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Christmas Day falls on Wednesday this year and is considered a federal holiday, which means government offices, schools and many businesses will take a break for observance.

Huntersville and Mecklenburg County government offices will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 24 through Thursday, Dec. 26.

U.S. Post Office: Closed, Wednesday, Dec. 25

State Offices: Closed Tuesday, Dec. 24 through Thursday, Dec. 26

Schools and Administrative Offices: Closed

Library: All Charlotte Mecklenburg libraries will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 24 through Dec. 26th.

Trash and Recycling Collection: There will be no trash pick up on Wednesday, Dec. 25.

Movies: Regal Birkdale & RPX is open.

  • Food Lion — Christmas Eve: closes at 7 p.m., Christmas Day: closed
  • Harris Teeter — Christmas Eve: closes at 7 p.m., Christmas Day: closed
