Get your cookouts in early because July 4th will likely be soggy. Here's when showers and thunderstorms are expected, NWS warns.
HUNTERSVILLE, NC — If you’re planning to grill out to celebrate Independence Day, you might want to start putting together a Plan B. The July 4th holiday will likely be a soggy and muggy one this year, with showers and thunderstorms in the forecast through the weekend and into early next week, according to the National Weather Service.
The National Weather Service issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for portions of North Carolina Wednesday morning, saying that isolated thunderstorms were possible in the afternoon and evening July 3.
While severe storms are not expected at this time, a few strong storms are possible producing gusty winds, small hail, cloud-to-ground lightning, and brief heavy rain, the NWS said.
