Fruit Loop: Truck Overturns, Spilling Watermelons Onto 485

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Hundreds of watermelons blocked a ramp from Interstate 485 to Interstate 77 Tuesday after the tractor trailer carrying them turned over on its side.

The midday accident shut down the I-485 inner loop to I-77 northbound ramp while Hazmat crews were dispatched to clean up the spill.

Drivers should expect delays in the area “for some time,” Huntersville Fire Department said.

According to WSOCTV, crews hope to have the ramp cleared by 6 p.m.
