Heat Wave: Scorching Temperatures Around Lake Norman This Week
It's going to be a scorcher this week, with near record highs. Here's when you can expect temperatures to begin to cool off.
HUNTERSVILLE, NC — The Memorial Day holiday weekend heat wave that sent picnics and cookouts indoors is expected to continue this week around Lake Norman, according to forecasters.
“Near record high temperatures will continue through at least the middle part of the week, with Heat Index values likely peaking in the 95 to 100 degree range each afternoon from Tuesday through Thursday,” the National Weather Service said in a hazardous weather outlook bulletin May 28.
Wednesday, temperatures will reach nearly 97 degrees, with overnight lows dipping only to about 72.

There is some good news, however. The heat will begin to dial back towards the weekend, when the daily high for Saturday and Sunday is expected to reach 88.
