HUNTERSVILLE, NC — When it comes to weather in North Carolina this week, all eyes have been turned to the coast, where Hurricane Dorian is expected to bring high winds, up to 15 inches of rain and in some areas, life-threatening storm surge.

While forecasters continue to monitor the storm’s track along the North Carolina coast, its impacts further inland in the piedmont of the state will likely be minimal, according to a National Weather Service forecast.

Thursday, Huntersville, as well as the greater Charlotte metro region, can expect a slight change of showers in the afternoon, with breezy conditions that could bring gusts up to 20 mph, NWS said. Overnight, there’s a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms and less than a tenth of an inch of rain expected.
