Here's How Huntersville's COVID Case Count Changed Last Month

About 37 percent of NC's adult population is partially vaccinated, while about 24 percent is fully vaccinated, DHHS said.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Confirmed coronavirus cases in Mecklenburg County rose by 262 cases Thursday, according to state public health officials. The new cases increase the number of known cases in the county to nearly 103,000, and 909 deaths.

In Huntersville, at least 5,477 cases and 48 deaths attributed to coronavirus were confirmed as of April 1, according to DHHS data. The tally represents an increase of at least 279 new cases and one death in Huntersville in about a month.

According to public health officials, the county's percent of those who tested positive for coronavirus in Mecklenburg County rose to 6.7 percent, up from 5.5 percent reported in early March. An average of 109 individuals were hospitalized in the country last week, down from 172 reported about a month ago.

Statewide, North Carolina reported 2,027 new cases in the span of a day, increasing the number of confirmed cases to more than 916,000, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. The state's positivity rate was 4.4 percent, as 985 residents remained hospitalized. As of April 1, COVID-19 had claimed the lives of at least 12,136 North Carolinians, DHHS said.

As of April 1, North Carolina had administered about 4.8 million doses of vaccine, leading to almost 29 percent of the state partially vaccinated and about 18 percent fully vaccinated. In Mecklenburg County, about 349,000 doses of vaccine had been administered. Vaccination efforts fall shy of the state rate, however. As of Thursday, about 19 percent of Mecklenburg County was partially vaccinated, while about 13 percent was fully vaccinated.
