Here's How Many Mecklenburg Residents Have Received Shots
Nearly 17 percent of Mecklenburg County's population has received their first COVID-19 dose as of March 23.

MECKLENBURG COUNTY, NC — Although the coronavirus vaccine has been in limited supply in North Carolina, vaccination efforts in Mecklenburg County have administered at least one dose to nearly 17 percent of the county, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
As of Tuesday, at least 183,508 Mecklenburg County residents had received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 114,338 people — or about 10 percent of the county's adult population — had been fully vaccinated.
The news comes as Mecklenburg County's tally of known cases rose to 100,837 Tuesday, according to DHHS. As of March 23, at least 901 deaths in the county had been blamed on the virus.

Mecklenburg County is currently administering vaccine to Groups 1, 2 and 3, along with medically at-risk individuals in Group 4, which means those 65 years old and older, medical workers, frontline essential workers and anyone who has an increased medical risk of COVID-19 illness are eligible to receive a vaccine.
