Huntersville Firefighters Douse Blaze At Recycling Center
Statesville Road was closed down for several hours on Sunday as firefighters put out a blaze at the Mecklenburg Recycle Center.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — The Huntersville Fire Department put out a blaze on Sunday afternoon at the Mecklenburg Recycle Center that closed down part of Statesville Road, according to the department.
The fire broke out in a pile of materials stored outdoors at the recycling center, in the 12300 block of Old Statesville Road.
Firefighters responded at about 3 p.m. and prevented the blaze from spreading to a nearby building, according to the Fire Department's Twitter feed.

The department closed Statesville Road between Hambright and Mount Holly-Huntersville roads, and then reopened it at around 6 p.m., after the firefighters extinguished the blaze.
