At Monday night's board meeting, Mayor Aneralla proclaimed that Wednesday, January 9, 2020 is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day in the Town of Huntersville.

The Town joins countless communities across the nation in recognizing the work and contributions of our police officers and the positive impact they make 24/7/365 to our town. The town's newest officers (pictured to the right) Prendergast and Ramsey, sworn in earlier that day, accepted the proclamation on behalf of the Huntersville Police Department.

WHEREAS, every day across the Town of Huntersville, police officers bravely and courageously risk their well-being to protect and serve our community and preserve the peace and order to which every citizen is entitled; and

WHEREAS, January 9, 2020 has been designated as “National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day” to honor the police officers who put their lives on the line to keep our communities safe; and

WHEREAS, the Huntersville Police Department consists of 102 full-time sworn police officers and 8 law enforcement support staff. The Police Department is responsible for 24-hour community wide law enforcement and responds to all requests for emergency services. The Police Department responds to an estimated 65,000 calls for service per year; and

WHEREAS, the members of the Huntersville Police Department are dedicated to ensuring public safety and enhancing the quality of life in the Town of Huntersville by serving as leaders and mentors, educating the community about the importance of public safety; and

WHEREAS, we appreciate the extraordinary efforts and sacrifices made by officers and their family members daily, to protect our schools, workplaces, roadways, and homes; and

WHEREAS, National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day is an opportunity to show our support for law enforcement.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, John Aneralla, Mayor of the Town of Huntersville, North Carolina, do hereby proclaim January 9, 2020 at “National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day” in the Town of Huntersville and on behalf of the Huntersville Board of Commissioners do hereby honor and thank all the police officers in the Town of Huntersville during National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day and commend those officers for their willingness and dedication to protect and serve our community.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I do hereby set my hand and cause the Seal of the Town of Huntersville to be affixed, this the 6th day of January, 2020.
