Man Nabbed After Trying To Sell Stolen Laptop Back To Victim: HPD
William Jones, 59, was arrested in Huntersville after attempting to sell a stolen laptop back to its owner, police said.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — A man attempting to sell a stolen laptop back to its owner ended up behind bars in Huntersville this week.
According to Huntersville Police Department, a laptop was stolen Jan. 29 from a vehicle on Little Penny Drive.
Later that same day, the victim contacted police and said an unknown person had contacted him, claiming to have his laptop.

“The suspect then told the victim he could have his laptop back for a small fee,” HPD said.
“The buyback was arranged at the Waffle House in Huntersville,” a HPD spokesperson told Patch.

During the controlled buy, William Jones, 59, was apprehended without incident.
According to police, two computer bags and one laptop were located at the time of Jones’ arrest.
Jones was charged with attempting to obtain property by false pretenses; possession of stolen goods; possession of marijuana, as well as possession of paraphernalia not for marijuana, HPD said.
