NC-73 Widening Project Focus Of Jan. 28 Public Meeting

A public meeting on the proposed three-year construction project that's tentatively set to begin in 2022 will be held Jan. 28.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — North Carolina's Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting on Jan. 28 to discuss widening N.C. 73 from Old Statesville Road in Huntersville to U.S. 29 in Mecklenburg and Cabarrus Counties. The proposed construction project is tentatively set to begin in 2022 and expected to take at least three years to complete.

The purpose of the widening project, according to NCDOT, is to, in part, “reduce congestion on N.C. 73 (Sam Furr Road) between N.C. 115 (Old Statesville Road) and Davidson-Concord Road and provide bicycle and pedestrian accommodations.” The meeting will allow NCDOT to inform the public about the project and also gather input on the proposed design, the agency said.

The proposed project would include improvements to Davidson-Concord Road June Washam Road and Highway 73 intersections, the Town of Davidson said.
