Nighttime Live Fire Training Planned In Huntersville Friday: HFD

Huntersville Fire Department will be conducting a live fire training exercise on Sam Furr Road Friday night. Here's what you need to know.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Huntersville residents should expect to see smoke along Sam Furr Road Friday evening, according to fire officials.

The Huntersville Fire Department is conducting a "live fire" training exercise Friday, May 21 at 7 p.m. at a single family home located in the 13500 block of Sam Furr Road. The home was slated for demolition and was donated to the fire department for training.

"This training opportunity will allow our firefighters, over several hours, to operate in live fire conditions as they practice fire attack methods, hoseline advancement, ventilation, etc.," HFD said in a statement. "Fire crews will take turns extinguishing fires within the structures while perfecting their firefighting skills."

After the training burns, a controlled burn will take place that will bring the house down to its foundation, fire officials said.
