Police Launch Search For Armed Suspect In Huntersville

Police launched an early morning K-9 search for the suspect who was reportedly armed with a handgun.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Police in Huntersville launched a K-9 search for an armed suspect Wednesday morning following reports of multiple vehicle break-ins.

"Armed suspect on foot in area of Jim Kidd and Beatties Ford," HPD said, via Twitter.

HPD described the suspect as a black male, about 5-foot, 6-inches to 5-foot, 8-inches tall, with a stocky build. He was last seen wearing a dark blue hooded sweatshirt and was armed with a handgun.

Around 8 a.m., HPD reported that the K-9 search for the suspect was unsuccessful and that officers had ended an active search for the suspect.

HPD said anyone who sees any suspicious activity is asked to call 9-1-1.
