HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer in Huntersville, and this year, many residents will mark the new season with a three-day weekend filled with memorial services, outdoor events and backyard barbecues.
At this point, your weekend is likely planned to a T. But, as most of us know, Mother Nature could always step in and ruin that carefully outlined itinerary with a trifecta of rain, storms and cloudy skies.
Unfortunately, it looks as if that might be the case for Memorial Day weekend in Huntersville, according to the most recent forecast for our area.

As you head home from work Friday evening, expect a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9 p.m. and again later that night, according to the National Weather Service. Saturday evening, the threat of rain remains, with a 30 percent chance of precipitation. Sunday night is expected to be partly cloudy, NWS said.

Want a second opinion? Accuweather's forecast for Huntersville over the holiday weekend calls for a 25 percent probability of rain Friday, and a 61 percent chance Saturday. Sunday will be sunny and Monday mostly cloudy, but both will have daily highs in the mid-70s.
