Thunderstorms Return To Huntersville: Here’s When Rain Will Begin

Rain is moving into our region later tonight. Here's when the National Weather Service says you can expect to see thunderstorms.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — The sunny pleasant weekend weather will be coming to an abrupt end with thunderstorms moving into the Charlotte metro and Lake Norman region starting Monday night, according to government weather forecasters.

“Scattered thunderstorms will develop across the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia this afternoon, with the better coverage expected across the mountains and foothills,” the National Weather Service said in a hazardous weather bulletin Monday. “Gusty winds, small hail, and cloud to ground lightning will be associated with these storms. A few thunderstorms could become quite strong or even severe capable of producing large hail and damaging winds.”

While scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to begin popping up overnight, widespread rain is expected by Tuesday afternoon. The week ahead could be pretty soggy, according to NWS — rain is in the forecast every day through Thursday evening.
