Folk Tales Adventure Camp is Investigative Fun

School's out, but that doesn't mean education has to go on vacation. The trick to summer learning is making it as fun and interactive as possible--which is exactly what Historic Latta Plantation provides with its Folk Tales Adventure Camp starting June 24. The four-day camp at the living history site nestled in the Latta Nature Preserve is a little bit Sherlock Holmes and a whole lot of North Carolina Backcountry history.

Campers will be historical detectives, each day examining artifacts from a different people group that at one time occupied the land. After making their "discovery," camp participants will recreate and explore the daily activities of that culture--for example, Native American day will include canoeing, making dream catchers, cooking over an open fire and more.

Folk Tales offers inquisitive minds much to chew on. The camp is designed to tap into critical thinking skills with hands-on activities and outdoor adventures to round out the experience, but in such an engaging way that kids will forget it's an educational camp!
