Dayton School Calendar 2017-18: First Day Of School, Vacations, Conferences

The first day of school in Dayton is August 15. Feel free to mark it on your calendar as one of the most dreaded days of the year for students and teachers — and feel free not to feel guilty about marking it as one of your favorites. The Dayton Public School District has released its 2017-2018 calendar for public schools.

The calendar includes important dates such as winter and spring vacations, religious holidays, federal holidays, early dismissals and parent-teacher conferences.

Here is the full list of dates to know for this school year:

• 8/10 - 8/11: Professional Development Days
• 8/14: Teacher Work Day
• 8/15: First Day for Students

September

• 9/4: No School (Labor Day)

October

• 10/9: No School for Students (Teacher Professional Development Day)
• 10/13: End of First Quarter

November

• 11/6 - 10/10: Evening Parent Conferences
• 11/20 - 11/21: No School for Students (Teacher Professional Development Days)
• 11/22 - 11/24: No School (Thanksgiving Break)

December

• 12/20: End of Second Quarter
• 12/21 - 1/3: No School (Winter Break)

January

• 1/1 - 1/3: No School (Winter Break)
• 1/4: Students Return
• 1/15: No School (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
• 1/16: No School for Students (Teacher Professional Development Day)

February

• 2/5 - 2/9: Evening Parent Conferences
• 2/16: No School for Teachers or Students (Conference Exchange Day)
• 2/19: No School (Presidents' Day)

March

• 3/16: End of Third Quarter
• 3/30 - 4/6: No School (Spring Break)

April

• 4/2 - 4/6: No School (Spring Break)
• 4/9: Students Return

May

• 5/25: Last Day for Students, 2-Hour Early Dismissal
