Nonprofit & Global Recruitment Firm to Launch Mentorship Program

The BRICC Foundry kicks off a partnership with GQR to pilot a virtual mentorship program connecting women of color with business leaders.

DAYTON, OHIO (Feb. 1, 2021) – The BRICC Foundry and GQR are pulling resources together to launch a virtual mentorship program for women of color set to kick off this March. Accepting applications nationwide, the partners are focusing their recruitment efforts in Los Angeles (CA), Austin (TX), New York City (NY), Columbus (OH), Dayton (OH), and Cincinnati (OH).

Through exclusive networking, projects, and one-on-one advising, the mentorship program exposes women of color to senior and executive-level women in business, technology, and entrepreneurship. The online development curriculum and speaker series are curated to encourage self-discovery, executive presence, and understanding of the professional landscape in America and beyond.

“Our mentorship program aims to support upcoming women in business, technology, and entrepreneurship,” said The BRICC Foundry Founder, Lauren Satterfield. “Finding a place to start is hard, and the purpose of this program is to connect women of color with resources, advisors, and career-building experiences. We’ve talked about the program since Q4 last year, and with the end-of-year reports about the state of women in the workplace due to the pandemic, especially Black & Latina, our teams knew we must pick up the pace and launch. Creating a pipeline of talent in cities like Dayton and Cincinnati will make a difference. The shift to remote work is here to stay, and I want to show growing companies that cities like mine have some of the brightest and creative minds. Exposure to a global talent network will help us get it done.”

Mentors and mentees must:
• Commit to 5-8 hours monthly for 3-months
• Virtually & actively participate with cohort & participants
• Attend all 1:1s, group sessions, and seminars
• Be attentive, considerate, accountable, and authentic

“With a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility, GQR sees the partnership with The BRICC Foundry as an opportunity to uplift and develop women of color by connecting mentees to mentors within our largely STEM-based network,” said recruitment consultant, Ebony Seymour, Vice President at GQR. “Having mentors provided me with resources, advice, and a sounding board at a peak time in my development. If it wasn’t for my mentor, there are many things I would not have been exposed to. Given the impact being a mentee had on my life and the access GQR has to some of the world’s best talent, it was a no-brainer to facilitate the partnership between The BRICC Foundry and ourselves. It’s been incredibly rewarding to collaborate on this program with Lauren, and we are grateful for her hard work and dedication to this cause.”

Satterfield, an Ohio Native, is concerned about the lasting impact these unprecedented times will have on smaller urban communities like her own in Dayton. Having met Seymour of Cincinnati, Ohio, in college while joining their sorority, Delta Sigma Theta, both women share this concern with their hometowns.

Applications for the program are now open and set to begin in March 2021. Learn more at thebriccfoundry.org/mentorship.
