I-75 In Dayton Closed After Fatal Crash, Vehicle Fire (UPDATE)

DAYTON, OH — A fatal crash involving a tanker truck that caused a massive fire, throwing heavy black smoke into the air, has closed I-75 in both directions and the Ohio Department of Transportation is warning that the closure could be in effect for several hours.

According to Dayton police, the fire is now out. Heavy black smoke could be seen coming from the scene and could be seen past the interstate, according to social media posts. (Subscribe to the Dayton Patch for real time alerts on the fire.)

Transportation officials will assess the condition of the highway to see if northbound lanes can open at some point.
