Marietta fun fact of the day:

Ohio became a state in 1803. Before that it was a territory. The Washington County Commissioners actually predate that. In 1795 a law was adopted from Pennsylvania that provided for the appointment of three county commissioners. That was confirmed in 1799. The first commissioners were William Putnam, Paul Fearing, Oliver Rice, Gilbert Devol, Jonathan Haskell, Simeon Deming, and Isaac Pierce.

  2. The Southeast Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force arrested Zachary Irvin for child pornography. The 33-year-old Marietta man was charged with pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and jailed in Washington County. (Sheriff's office)
  3. Southeast Ohio's U.S. Congressman Bill Johnson has introduced the TEAM TELECOM Act. This legislation would codify the interagency cooperation of the DOD, DHS, DOJ, FBI, and FCC to fight foreign interference. (Congressman Bill Johnson)
  4. Washington County's Fugitive of the Week Frederick McKitrick was apprehended. (Sheriff's office)
  5. WTAP reports that the Belpre Shopping Plaza will be revamped, and renamed Belpre Market Square. (WTAP)
