Marietta fun fact of the day:

By the 1820s there was talk about the grand future of Marietta. Locals talked about prosperity and prominence, but where would it come from? There were a couple of issues, first, Marietta had to find a product to champion, a mineral, crop, or good, that would bring money to the area to create jobs and fuel other local industries. Second, they had to be able to get that product to market. The Ohio Company tried to build oceangoing ships along the banks of the Muskingum, that proved impractical. What ended up making Marietta unique was less a booming economy, but more devotion to the vision of the town's future held by the pioneer settlers of 1788.

Cheapest gas in town:

Gas has gone up by nearly $.30 at a number of area gas stations. Here are some of the stations tha haven't raised their prices, yet.

  • GetGo on Pike Street, $2.82
  • Go Mart on Pike Street, $2.82
  • Marathon on Muskingum Drive, $2.82
  • Marathon on Gilman Avenue, $2.82
  • Marathon on State Route 7, $2.82

A full list can be found here.

The average gas price in Ohio today is $2.99
