Wally Kandel will bid his farewell to the Mid-Ohio Valley after years of service and entrepreneurship with a message to attendees of the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce 106th Annual Dinner: Successes and Lessons from Servant Leadership on Four Continents.

Wally Kandel has been a member of the local business community for over 30 years, serving in the heart of our region’s petrochemical and oil & gas industry. A 1987 graduate of Marietta College’s Petroleum Engineering program, Wally has held several field and management positions working for Chevron, Chevron Phillips and Solvay. These assignments have included working on four different continents. For the last 14 years, Wally has been the Senior Vice President & Marietta Site Manager of Solvay Specialty Polymers and just recently was named the North American Director of Solvay Group Engineering and Construction.
Wally is also one of the founding directors of Shale Crescent USA, a non-profit organization whose goal is to “deliver targeted messaging to high energy intensive industry decision makers” encouraging the creation of high paying jobs in the Shale Crescent Region. Shale Crescent USA is marketing this region to the world by showing the advantages of investing here. They also have shown how the Shale Gas revolution has saved $1.1 Trillion for end-users of natural gas from 2008 to 2018.

Wally was awarded with the Gabe Zide Citizen of the Year Award by the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce at the Annual Dinner in 2019 for his dedication to the Marietta Area’s economic growth, his service to the community as a member of Rotary, and his active service in the church. Wally was also previously named the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce 2012 Business Leader of the Year.
Monday, August 9th, 2021 marks the 106th anniversary of the Annual Dinner of the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce (MACC). The event will be at the Dyson-Baudo Recreation Center at Marietta College. Social hour begins at 5:00 pm, dinner seating begins at 6:15 pm with a meal prepared by Parkhurst Catering served at 6:30 pm. Program begins at 7 pm. Following dinner, the honorees for the Washington County Council of Cooperative Agricultural Award, the Zonta Elizabeth L. Hadler Woman of the Year Award, the Gabe Zide Citizen of the Year Award, and the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce Business Leader of the Year Award will be announced.
Tickets are $50 per member and $60 per non-member. Tickets include admission, networking opportunities during social hour, a three-course meal, community awards presentation and a fun evening with area business leaders!
