Marietta fun fact of the day:
Men and women of Marietta's religious community moved for moral reformation in school and in general. They worked to make their moral philosophy prevail above all others. The middle class wanted everyone to be like them, Christian, hardworking, moderate, balanced, and predictable. One prominent Mariettan in 1846 said those without education would succumb to the increasing evils of this world. "They will be the dupes of error, the slaves of superstition, the victims of low ambition and the tools of party intrigue."
