Marietta fun fact of the day:

While Marietta has an older population now, that wasn't always the case. In 1840, about 60-percent of Washington County was younger than 21. Apparently, teenagers here thought it very important to rebel. In May 186o drunkenness in high school was so bad that several intoxicated kids from respectable families had to be sent home. Youngsters would congregate at Mound Cemetery on Sundays and turn it into what one reporter called a "smoking salon, or a bacchanalian resort."
