Ohio State Highway Patrol 4th Of July Weekend
The OSHP's 4th of July weekend holiday weekend recap.
MARIETTA, OH — The Ohio State Highway Patrol has released its report for the 4th of July weekend. They analyzed data from the date of July 2nd through July 5th. There were 16 people who died in 15 fatal car crashes. None of those crashes were in Washington County. The closest traffic fatality was in Perry County.

There were more than 500 arrests for impaired driving and nearly 400 for drug related charges. Troopers responded to more than 5oo crashes and made more than 40,000 traffic contacts when all was said and done.

Washington County saw 704 incidents with highway troopers. This could mean speeding tickets, crashes, OVIs, seatbelt infractions, distracted driving, among other infractions. There were about 130% more OSHP incidents this 4th of July weekend than there were last year. For a full list of statewide reported activity click here.
