Marietta's Jewish population has historically been very successful. Jewish children here have generally done well in academics, and many of them finished off their schooling at Ivy League universities. One of whom became a famous journalist in the late 1920s. Helen Josephy started out as a reporter for The Marietta Times. She went on to work for The New York Sun, The New York Mail, The New York Herald, and Vogue in Paris. Josephy eventually would write the bestseller Paris Is A Woman's Town, as well as London is a Man's Town.

- Marietta's Police Chief Rodney Hupp is on paid leave. He's accused of creating a hostile work environment. An investigation into his conduct has been conducted, and the results of this investigation could be released soon. (WTAP)
- The Sternwheel Festival is back on this year. It's been scheduled for September 10-12 in downtown Marietta. Anyone looking to get involved can do so here. (WTAP)
- The Marietta Fire Department has a new truck. They're expecting to add more vehicles to their fleet soon too. (Marietta Patch)
- Marietta College embraces Collin's Law. This is an anti-hazing law that designates forced ritualistic alcohol or drug consumption felony offenses. It mainly targets fraternities and sororities. Marietta College says that because it's for the safety of students they're all for it. (WTAP)
- And downtown Marietta has a new business. Yesterday, McKenna's Market Deli opened on Front Street. (WTAP)
