The Levee House Bistro had at one point been the Levee House Cafe, and also the Levee House Restaurant. But Casey Hickey and Tom Hickey, the owners, say when they took over the restaurant, they wanted to keep with the history of the Levee House.

Although the Levee House Bistro has been open since February 19, the ribbon-cutting ceremony is being held tomorrow, March 23. One reason for the delay is that the Hickeys are big fans of Congressman Bill Johnson, and wanted to make sure he could be there. They've known the Congressman since Tom was the chef at the Buckley House Restaurant. "He really liked my food and really wanted to be here." The couple said that Johnson coming is really the icing on the cake.

The Hickeys said that business has been booming since they opened a month ago. "We've been filling up every weekend, having to turn people away." They recommend making reservations if you want to eat there on the weekend. While February is one of the slowest months of the year, Tom says they did very well. "People in Marietta and Parkersburg were ready."

The Hickeys say the ribbon-cutting is largely symbolic. That this is mostly about the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Marietta acknowledging they're open for business. The public is invited to tomorrow's event. Tom says he's planning on serving hors d'oeuvres, possibly mini crabcakes.
