One of the first stores opened in the Northwest Territory was by Edward Tupper who came to Marietta in 1788 when he was 17-years-old. He began merchandising at the corner of Second and Putnam Street.

- Janelle Patterson reports that the City of Marietta has filed a lawsuit for the collapsed walking trail along the river at Duck Creek. The city has filed suit against the engineers who designed the project, and they could see $200,000 if they win. (The Marietta Times)
- Southeastern Ohio's U.S. Congressman Bill Johnson dropped his weekly update. He talks about Biden and crime, Harris and the border, his new cybersecurity bill, an appearance on Newsmax, and an eastern Ohio hospital reopening. (Patch)

-The Washington County Public Library will be hosting a science event. It's called science with author Diana Perry. On Friday from 1-3 p.m. kids from 6-12 can learn from the best. Space is limited. Sign up here.
