There were a number of arrests recently by the Sheriff's office. Patch was able to obtain mugshots when available.

On 26 Jun 2021 at State Route 550 near Wynwood Drive, a vehicle was caught on radar traveling 61 mph in a 45 mph zone. A traffic stop on the vehicle bearing WV registration was conducted, identifying the driver as Britnee N. Scarbrough, 509 Buckeye Street, Parkersburg, WV. A citation was issued to Scarbrough for speed.

On 26 Jun 2021, Deputy Peters was patrolling State Route7 South when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. Deputy Peters turned and attempted to catch the vehicle, while noting additional traffic violations, almost causing a wreck. A second deputy was conducting a traffic stop in the vicinity this driver was driving and she failed to move over for the lights. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle, finding the driver to be Jenna C. Heiby. An odor of alcohol was coming from the vehicle. When asked if Heiby had anything to drink she stated no. Heiby finally stated she had three beers between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. An open can of beer was observed in the backseat of the vehicle which was still cold to the touch, which she stated was a week old. A standard field sobriety test was conducted with Heiby performing poorly. Heiby was transported for a BAC test, which she refused. Jenna Chantelle Heiby, age, 29 Townhall Road, Marietta, OH, was placed under arrest and charged with OVI, right of way of public safety equipment, marked lanes, and driving under suspension (OVI). Heiby was processed in the Washington County Jail.

On 26 Jun 2021 Lt. Gherke met with an individual reporting an assault which took place at 9550 State Route 550. Joshawah Haught had allegedly struck the victim on the buttock. Haught stated that he did slap the victim’s buttock, for no reason, just joking around. A charge of disorderly conduct was filed through Marietta Municipal Court on Joshawah P. Haught, age 21, 499 McGill Road, Vincent, OH.

On 23 Jun 2021, Deputy Aultman began an investigation into a felonious assault in Salem Township. This case remains under investigation.


On 23 Jun 2021, Deputy Gainer began a burglary investigation where numerous items, i.e. Vizio TV, LG TV, Samsung notebook laptop, PS4 system, were stolen. This case remains under investigation.


On 24 Jun 2021, James Holder provided Warren Water and Sewer Association, 17300 State Route 550, Marietta, OH, with a handwritten rental agreement signed by a property owner and himself. The note stated Holder was renting the property at 4755 Waterford Road from the property owner. Warren Water and Sewer Association received this documentation and contacted the property owner, who advised he did not sign that rental agreement. It was confirmed that no rental agreement verbal or written was entered into by the property owner and Holder. Holder admitted to writing the agreement and signing the owner’s name after a verbal agreement via telephone. A summons is being requested for James Nathan Holder, age 35, on a charge of forgery.

On 25 Jun 2021 Deputy Painter was on patrol on State Route 7, Warren Township when a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed was observed and confirmed on radar. The vehicle was registered at 72 mph in a 60 mph zone. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Matthew Hahn A check of Hahn’s license confirmed the suspension. An odor of raw marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. When asked if there was marijuana in the vehicle Hahn stated he did not know. A bag of green leafy substances was located with Hahn stating the “weed” was his. A citation was issued to Matthew Baron Hahn, age 49, 506 White Road, Marietta, OH, for speed, failure to reinstate a driver’s license, and possession of marijuana.

Sheena Lynn Keys, age 31, New Martinsville, WV, aggravated menacing, a felony.

Carl Edward Porter, age 38, Belpre, OH, probation violation, a felony.

Jeremy Eugene O’Brien, age 36, Cutler, OH, theft, domestic violence, breach of recognizance, obstructing official business, violate a protection order, all misdemeanors, receiving stolen property, a felony.

Dakota Dee Hines, age 30, Marietta, OH, parole violation, a felony.

Amber Lee Haught, age 36, Belpre, OH, driving under suspension, a misdemeanor.

Jeremy Ray Braun, age 37, Vincent, OH, escape, domestic violence and parole violation, all felonies.

The following subject(s) were processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Jun 2021:

Mario Anthony Puma, age 32, Parkersburg, WV, domestic violence, a felony.

Jason Lee Martin, age 35, Coolville, OH, OVI and contempt of court, both misdemeanors.

There are currently 18 female inmates and 89 male inmates being housed in the Washington County Jail.
