The Paving the Way campaign is a year-long effort by the Foundation that gives community members, alumni, and supporters of the non-profit organization the opportunity to purchase a personalized paver. Every brick purchased will help fund the endowment of the WSCC 50th Anniversary Scholarship. “It’s an opportunity to leave a lasting message to future generations that you’ve left your mark here and you want others to have the opportunity to make college part of their future,” explained Cheryl Canaday, the Foundation’s executive assistant.

The 50th Anniversary Commemorative Garden, which will be situated between the Carson K. Miller Library and the new Student OneStop, will feature a walkway of the engraved bricks for all students, faculty, staff, and guests to enjoy as they enter the main gateway of campus. The garden and walkway will be unveiled in spring 2022.
Canaday said the pavers are a great way to honor a friend, alumnus, or family member; recognize a personal accomplishment; memorialize someone special; or provide permanent recognition of a person’s contribution to the College.

The Foundation recently shared the paver campaign with graduates from the Class of 2021. Social Services Technology grad Maddie Galloway said she jumped at the opportunity as soon as she heard about it. “I ordered immediately,” she confessed. “The thought of leaving something lasting for my time here was really a cool opportunity.” She added that, “I wanted to leave a permanent mark on the school because it was a big part of who I am.”
Two brick sizes are available, 4”x8” for $125 and 8”x8” for $250 and can be ordered and personalized at wscc.edu/pave_the_way.
