300 Thanksgiving Baskets To Be Handed Out By Gilmour Academy
The Gilmour Academy Community will deliver the baskets, with full meals, to families in Northeast Ohio.

From Gilmour Academy: On the first morning of Thanksgiving break, Gilmour’s campus will be buzzing by 7:45 a.m. as students, faculty, alumni and friends gather to distribute more than 300 Thanksgiving meals to local families as part of the Brother Richard Keller Thanksgiving Food Drive. The drive is named in memory of longtime Gilmour staff member and Food Drive volunteer Brother Richard Keller, C.S.C.
Students and faculty members at the Lower, Middle and Upper Schools have been collecting food for the drive for the past few weeks and the donations are being used to fill 300 baskets with complete Thanksgiving dinners. On Wednesday morning at 7:45 a.m., those baskets will be loaded into cars for home delivery by seniors, families, faculty/staff and alumni. The remaining baskets will be loaded on a bus with additional Gilmour volunteers, who will distribute them at the Hunger Center at St. Patrick’s Church in Cleveland. There are several educational events that accompany this community initiative. During a special prayer service to bless the baskets on Tuesday, Middle and Upper School students will hear from Patrick Dowd, the organizer of St. Malachi’s Community Hot Meal. Meanwhile, the sixth graders will welcome residents from the Fatima Center and serve them a Thanksgiving meal. After, each guest from Fatima Center will be able to take a basket home.
Gilmour’s Director of Mission Integration Whitney Daly, who has chaired the drive for the past three years, said, “The Br. Richard Keller Thanksgiving Food Drive truly brings our Holy Cross mission to life. We are called to demonstrate hospitality to those in need and our entire community came together to create more than 300 baskets, which we’ll deliver to local families for the holiday. This project is too large to be successful without the commitment of the entire school community and everyone, from our Montessori toddlers to our seniors, our faculty/staff and alumni, jumped in to do their part. I am so proud of what the Gilmour family has accomplished.”
