Power Outages In Mayfield Heights: Nearly 200 Customers In Dark

Sporadic thunderstorms have knocked out power in some suburbs.

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, OH — Nearly 200 Mayfield Heights residents are without power after thunderstorms swept through Northeast Ohio on Thursday.

The outages are concentrated primarily east of I-271. It's not yet clear what specifically caused the outages, but FirstEnergy estimates all Mayfield Heights customers will have their power restored between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Thunderstorms formed Thursday afternoon, bringing crackling thunder, brief but powerful downpours and gusty winds through northern Ohio. It was the second straight day of scattered thunderstorms hitting the region.

Additional rain and storms are possible throughout the evening, according to the National Weather Service. There's a 40-percent chance of inclement weather developing overnight, though the best chance for storms is prior to 2 a.m.
