1. Mayfield Heights remains mostly white

Mayfield Heights has 19,155 residents, according to the Census. Of those, 15,397 – 80.3 percent – describe themselves as white.

The second largest racial group are those who identify themselves as black – 1,979 residents (10.3 percent). There are 1,340 residents who are Asian (6.9 percent) and 391 (2.0 percent) are Hispanic.

2. Minority populations are younger

The average family size in Mayfield Heights is 2.75. Census figures show that the Hispanic population has the largest families at an average of 3.15, while white families average a size of 2.71.

When it comes to a stability, meaning "family households" led by a married couple living together, the Asian population ranks highest at 90.5 percent. "Family households" is described as a householder and one or more people related by birth, marriage or adoption.

The stability rate is 71.3 percent overall and 73.0 percent for white family households, 57.4 percent for Hispanic family households and 40.5 percent for black family households.
