COVID-19 At Mayfield Schools: 96 Students Quarantining
Eleven staffers and 96 students are quarantining after a middle school student tested positive for COVID-19.
MAYFIELD, OH — Nearly 100 students in the Mayfield City Schools are quarantining after a student tested positive for COVID-19.
The district confirmed that 96 students and 11 staffers are quarantining after a 7th grade students contracted COVID-19.
"Students involved in the quarantine will revert to remote learning during the 14 day quarantine. Students can return to school if they are symptom free, without the use of medication, on Wednesday, Oct. 21st," the district said in a letter to families this week.

Public health officials are working with the school district to assess who the student may have interacted with and where they may have gone after they were infected. District officials urged everyone to work with health officials if contacted.
"Spread of COVID-19 is currently happening in our community. This is why it is so important for all students and staff to adhere to the key public health prevention strategies to reduce the chance for transmission of COVID-19," the district said.
