Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

Look for the kids’ planner each Wednesday, and help us build the planner with your own suggestions and tips — just add them to the comment box. We want to hear from you!

Black History's Great Contributions to the World

Where/When: Feb. 12, Mayfield Library,  6080 Wilson Mills Road, 3:30 p.m.

Why Go: Pale Male is the story of a red-tailed hawk who arrived in New York in 1991 and became a celebrity. Popcorn will be served.

Young at Art: Backyard Birds

Where/When: Feb. 12, Cleveland Metroparks North Chagrin Reservation Nature Center,  1:30-3 p.m.
Why Go: Kids who love nature will enjoy observing birds at the feeder and taking part in an art project. Supplies provided. For ages 10 to 13. Call 440-247-7075 to register.

Stroller Science

Where/When: Feb. 15, Cleveland Metroparks North Chagrin Reservation Nature Center,  10:15-11:15 a.m.
Why Go: Little ones ages 2 and younger with an adult can look for birds. Call 440-473-3370 to register.

Where/When: Feb. 15, Mayfield Library,  6080 Wilson Mills Road, 10-11 a.m.
Why Go: Rhymes, songs, fingerplays and stories will entertain caregivers and babies from birth to 18 months old.
